The question I get asked the most? What paint color should I use? According to Pantone, a global authority on color, the 2019 color of the year is LIVING CORAL.
Danna's Favorite Color
Let’s just say that I was super excited to hear this because coral is my favorite color. It was the primary color in my wedding. My bridesmaids were beautiful in coral, and my bouquet was filled with my favorite flower, coral roses. With Pantone’s announcement in late December, we are already seeing this joyful and fun color pop up everywhere. I was excited to see that the fashion and textile industries are already pushing out their spring lines filled with this vibrant color.
Although this is my favorite color, the last place I think it should be is on your walls or the high-end appliances in your kitchen unless you just have a lot of money and like to remodel every year. So, how can you incorporate this fun color into your home without going overboard?
Bring in some fun throw pillows, curtains and floral arrangements. You can even do a bathroom makeover by adding a punch of color with some coral towels. Don’t overdo because when January arrives there will be a new color of the year, and you do not want to look around your house with regrets.
Night Watch and Champagne
Let’s talk about a few other color trends that we will be seeing in 2019 that I think will stick around a little longer. The first one is PPG’s color for 2019, Night Watch. This deep, rich green is great for an accent wall or even makes a beautiful statement piece when applied to an island cabinet with some champagne fixtures.
Be brave and make your guests green with envy when they see this gorgeous color incorporated into your home in places like this gorgeous tile backsplash.
Classic Black & White
The second color trend that is making a comeback in 2019 is the timeless combination of black & white. These two contrasting colors make a statement in every room, but I expect that you will see them most showcased in kitchens and baths. This crisp, clean look can add some historical charm when paired with marble or a decorative tile in your bathrooms. Add some light-colored hardwoods in the kitchen to soften the feel of these bold colors that add a classic flare to any room.
As for your walls, you will be glad to know that neutral is still key. Be on the lookout for warmer grays and beige. Two of my current favorite colors for walls are Amazing Gray and Accessible Beige. Both lean a little toward what many designers consider to be a greige color. (Yes, greige is a word.) These are light & airy, making your space warm and inviting.
I hope the colors of 2019 will inspire you to get rejuvenated, renovate and build! What’s your favorite 2019 color?
