What shades of granite and back splash tiles go well with white kitchen cabinets?

White cabinets are a beautiful choice for your kitchen remodel.

This color is both timeless AND modern. Plus, with many different shades of white available, they certainly don’t have to be boring. However, when you do choose white cabinets, you want to avoid a sea of monochrome in the kitchen—yet, you do not want to pick a countertop or backsplash that will look stark or out of place. This means that your decision could be difficult. We have put together a few tips to make it easier to find the best color for countertops, backsplashes, and other elements to tie your kitchen together.

COMPLIMENT OR CONTRAST

Counter And Backsplash White Cabinets

The two main ways to go with your countertops and backsplash is to either compliment or contrast with your white cabinetry. If you go with a lighter shade, you will compliment. A darker shade will contrast. Contrasting colors are bolder and may take a little getting used to, but the effect is beautiful. Spend some time thinking about what your goal is and your other decisions will come much easier.

SHADES OF GRAY

Gray is always a great pairing for white. With gray, you can go as dark or as light as you want and stay in the same color scheme. Choosing to decorate in shades of gray can be an excellent way to move away from the stark white that the cabinets bring, without going “too dark, too fast.” Today’s granites and other countertop options offer plenty of sparkle and shine too, so gray does not mean boring—in fact, it is far from it.

LIGHT DOESN’T MEAN WHITE

Want something light? You don’t have to go with all white. Why not choose warm yellowish granite or even one of the pink shades? Plenty of light colors are far from white. Don’t feel like you are stuck with just “black and white”—you have a rainbow of shades to choose from in the world of countertops.

YOU COULD GO WHITE…PARTLY?

If you have you heart set on those snow white countertops to match the white cabinets, there is one additional area that you can add a pop of color. Your backsplash is an excellent spot to add personality and a touch of color. In fact, this can be a very modern look.

With white cabinets, you do have a lot of options when it comes to other colors in your kitchen.
